Inquiry into the supply of regional housing
At the beginning of this year Local Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison was appointed to lead an inquiry into the supply or regional housing.
The appointed committee will review the mix of housing forms and types in regional Victoria as well as home building methods. A range of housing issues including areas in most need, workforce construction industry challenges and accommodation for regional workers in key sectors will also be covered.
As part of the inquiry, a delegate group from the committee, including several members of parliament travelled throughout regional Victoria to conduct site visits and hold public hearings.
The ‘regional roadshow’ enabled committee members to engage directly with local industry experts, support organisations and government authorities.
In May, Hygge hosted the delegate group in Ballarat Central with site visits to its Nightingale Ballarat and Lyons Place apartment projects.
Hygge also attended and spoke at a public hearing in Ballarat alongside other local industry experts in May advocating for change through a range of Local, State and Federal initiatives to facilitate high quality housing supply in regional Victoria.
Over 100 written submissions were received by the committee with a report to parliament due by 15 December 2025. More information about the inquiry into the supply of regional housing can be found here.
