On the Shortlist for UDIA Apartment Award

Lyons Place has been shortlisted in the 2025 Urban Development Industry Association (UDIA) Awards for Excellence in the Apartment (mid-rise) category.

As the only regional apartment project in the category (and across the entire shortlisted awards field) - Lyons Place represents a significant milestone for Ballarat’s evolving urban landscape.

The award recognises projects between 6-10 storeys in height establishing new benchmarks in residential architecture and placemaking. Past winners have demonstrated not only a design excellence but also meaningful community impact, innovation and commercial performance.

Drawing inspiration from the traditional quality of Ballarat’s urban built form, Lyons Place has been designed by Chamberlain Architecture & Interiors to make its own architectural statement as a new inner-city landmark.

The seven-storey building is nearing completion through industry leading builder Figurehead Construction and is also set to become Ballarat’s tallest and largest residential building with 58 apartments (including 7 larger-format penthouses) and two townhouses.

Responding directly to regional housing challenges, Lyons Place introduces a premium apartment typology to a walkable inner-city location with a landscaped courtyard and a restored heritage café space.

Market acceptance has been compelling, with strong off-the-plan performance and a local uptake validating a latent demand for well-designed, low-maintenance living options in Ballarat’s centre.

Setting a new standard for regional apartment living, Lyons Place has now placed Ballarat on the map in an industry award category historically dominated by metropolitan projects.

Winners are announced at end of November 2025 at an Awards Ceremony in Melbourne. Watch this space!
