Team news: introducing Jason

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I was born in Melbourne and lived in Gippsland before settling with my wife Cat in the Hepburn region. We’ve since had two children – Theodore (Teddy) and Olivia and live on a small farm outside Daylesford.

Living in the area has given me the opportunity to develop my passion for regenerative agriculture alongside my work with Hygge. We also love living next to the Wombat State Forest and enjoy walking and exploring the bush with my family.

What’s your role with Hygge and what attracted you to working with Hygge?

I’m a Senior Development Manager, managing projects across Daylesford and Ballarat.

Responsible development and a focus on sustainability are important to me. I also enjoy the regional focus of the role as I believe in the importance of working with and improving the communities in which we build.

Why did you go into property and planning?

I’ve always had an interest in high quality development – since my teenage years.

The challenge of bringing increased quality of life and environmentally sustainable concepts to reality has been very rewarding. It’s been a personal challenge to move away from the typical monoculture of suburban landscapes and Hygge has allowed me to face this challenge.

Living and working in and around Daylesford and Ballarat means I have a vested interest in seeing the best possible outcomes for these communities.

What are your favourite places in the area?

Cat and I love to eat at Sault or grab a drink and platter at Winespeake. The Daylesford Brewing Company has a great variety of beers on tap and great burgers.

For a special occasion, we love an evening at The Lake House. This is where I proposed to Cat so it’s a particularly special place for us.

What do you like best about living in the Hepburn region?

This is a great place to live, work and raise a family. We love the strong community feel that comes with living in Hepburn region. And of course, there’s the added bonus of scenic open space and clean air.

The area now has personal history for us – this is where we were married (at home on the farm just outside of Daylesford) and started our family.
