Good Coffee Has Arrived

Within the former red brick school building at the front of Lyons Place, Prey has opened - a delightful addition to Lyons Street North. The boutique café is known for its buttery handmade pastries, boutique brews and seasonal drinks, with many of the baked goods created by local Ballarat women.

Housed within the restored heritage building, the space combines the character of the original structure with a fresh hospitality offering. Since opening, a steady flow of people seeking good coffee, conversation or baked treats have visited.

Throughout the planning and design of Lyons Place, retaining and reactivating the former school building (which had been partially destroyed by fire) was an important part of the project. The intention was always for the space to contribute to the everyday rhythm and character of the streetscape.

The arrival of Prey marks the continued evolution of Lyons Place within Ballarat Central, activating this once-dormant section of Lyons Street North.
